Meet Solution 1 Owner and Coach: JR Kuchta
“My fitness journey began in high school, as I really enjoyed the training associated with the sports I was playing. After high school, I continued to workout and really became passionate about learning everything I could about fitness and nutrition.
In 2007, after college and a few years at a corporate job, I cashed out my 401k and opened a personal training business to take my passion to others. After discovering CrossFit in 2011, and even though I owned my own fitness facility, I actually became a member at the 4th affiliate in the world (Kansas City CrossFit/Bootcamp Fitness). I would wake up at 4 am and drive 25 minutes every morning to train in their 5 am class. In 2012, I affiliated Solution 1 CrossFit and now 7 years later I am just as much in love with CrossFit as when I first started.
My favorite kind of workout is anything with a barbell, burpees, and is less than 10 minutes. I am a big fan of quick and fast workouts where you get to finish the workout squeezing out every last drop.
What I love about CrossFit is the constant variety and that you never master it. You have to humble yourself to get the most out of it. There are so many variations and movements and skills, that you always have more to learn and practice. And if you allow yourself to be a student and embrace the community, you’ll learn a tremendous amount about yourself in the process, too.
One of my favorite things as a coach is to see the light bulb go off in a member when they realize fitness isn’t about being thinner or having definition in your arms or abs. Fitness is how you feel and how you perform. Shifting your mindset from physique related goals to performance related goals is truly life-changing.
In addition to his Level 1 Trainer Certificate, J.R. has earned the distinction of Certified Personal Trainer through the International Sport Sciences Assoc. and is a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.
